We are blessed with a system of responsive emergency workers. Our
firefighters rush to extinguish blazes, our EMTS rush to treat the
stricken, and our police rush to help victims of crime. But do we
stop to consider that when our lives are threatened often, so are
theirs? With all that they do for us, someone should be watching
over them. Our project, the Silent Sentry, puts tracking, sensing,
and communication technology to work to help protect the lives of
these valiant rescuers.
This TechXplore project was completed by Governor Livingston High
School, Berkeley Heights, NJ, with technical support from Mr. Jack
Riley of Agere Systems. It is part of TechXplore 2003, which is
sponsored by the National
Science Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP).
